Dr. Linda Cox

Linda Cox, Ph.D., has served on the WSP board of Directors since 2012 and has been a Storybook volunteer for over 10 years. She teaches Ethics at Austin Community College, where she encourages students to serve community nonprofit partners while exploring issues in women’s incarceration, animal rights, food justice, and environmental ethics. Linda also has taught at Southwestern University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has a Ph.D. in English from UNC-Chapel Hill, an M.A. in Philosophy from Duke University, and a B.A. from Rice University. She and her husband, Geoff, a family doctor at South Oaks Family Medicine in Oak Hill, have lived in Austin since 1996–raising two children, serving on various school boards and other nonprofits that serve children, and being active members of Westlake United Methodist Church. “The children of incarcerated parents are some of our country’s most vulnerable, at-risk children, and Storybook reaches out to them in a way that no other program can. We help moms stay connected with their kids during a time of traumatic separation, exposing them to great children’s literature in the process!”
