WSP Book Club
For our next Book Club meeting, we’ll be discussing the powerful documentary 13th, directed by Ava DuVernay.
The film takes its title from the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and explores the connection between race, justice, and mass incarceration in America. Through powerful storytelling, archival footage, and expert interviews, 13th challenges us to think deeply about how history, policy, and systemic inequities continue to shape our society today.
We invite you to watch the movie at home before the meeting and then join us for a meaningful group discussion. You can find 13th streaming on Netflix and several other platforms (links below).
For those connected to WSP, this conversation is especially relevant. The themes in 13th resonate closely with the experiences of the women and families we serve. By exploring this documentary together, we can deepen our understanding, reflect on our work through a broader social lens and strengthen our collective commitment to empathy and justice.
We hope you’ll join us for this important and inspiring discussion!
Please note : We’ve moved the meeting to 6:00 PM to make it easier for everyone as the days get shorter.
